After a competitive pitch process we were appointed to the roster of agencies for The National Galleries of Scotland. Our initial work was a promotional campaign for their flagship show, Van Gogh to Kandinsky; Symbolist Landscape in Europe 1880-1910.
Inspired by the social and cultural history of the artwork on display, we created a distinctive exhibition identity using Mostra Nuova, a geometric typeface that takes its influence from European design from the early 20th century. Indeed, Mostra Nuova loosely translates as ‘new show’.
As part of the promotional material for this campaign we conceived and created an ingenious lenticular outdoor installation which displayed the work of Van Gogh from one direction and that of Gallan Kallela from the other angle.
