Dabton House

Feathering the nest at a historic family home.

Situated in the heart of picturesque Dumfries and Galloway, Dabton House is a historic country home located within the Queensberry Estate. As part of an extensive and sensitive renovation project, we were tasked with creating the brand identity, brand story and website for this luxurious property. Not only did this new brand need to tell the story of the refurbished Dabton House but it also had to appeal to the discerning luxury accommodation market.

Paying tribute to Dabton House’s original interiors, our brand identity draws inspiration from a frequent visitor to the estate from further afield — The Nuthatch. These fascinating creatures craft their own habitat by adopting the empty nest boxes of other birds, creating their very own “home-from-home” – making them a perfect emblem for this exquisite reimaging of Dabton.

This stylised, monolinear interpretation of the bird acts as a distinctly modern marque — celebrating a much-loved part of the home as well as its unique natural surroundings. A vibrant brand palette references the eclectic nature of the interior, while a varied typographic approach echoes the location’s heritage and sense of character. In collaboration with acclaimed photographer Alix Mclntosh, we art directed a series of images showing the
refurbished Dabton House in all its splendour.

To support this aspirational new look and feel, a playful yet sophisticated tone of voice sets the scene and welcomes visitors for what promises to be a memorable stay. This verbal and visual tone was woven into both physical and digital touchpoints.

“Having worked with Touch on various branding and digital projects for our estates, retail and property businesses, we were keen to work with them again on our original family home. They delivered a brilliant brand and website that has launched successfully and allowed us to create a new business for our portfolio.”
