A new strand for Edinburgh International Festival 2018 was Light on the Shore, a series of high-profile live music events at Leith Theatre. Edinburgh International Festival programmed a series of gigs in this historic venue, and they asked us to create an identity, website design and digital campaign that would complement our design work for the main festival programme.

We had to balance the task of communicating a diverse line-up with designing a campaign that could work equally well on digital poster sites, across social media, and at the venue itself.

Taking the theme of light and Edinburgh International Festival’s iconic yellow colour, we created a flexible digital identity that ‘morphed’ according to the application, from a simple halo to a more dynamic sunburst pattern.

This eye-catching animated approach worked well across all applications, from our website design and social media campaign on Twitter, Facebook and of course Instagram.
